Bangalore Hash House Harriers
28 years and still running... Its the Bangalore chapter of the drinking club with a running problem. We run on (almost) once a month somewhere in the countryside 20-50 km from the centre of town and occasionally indulge in outstation runs and Hash events. |
Run 681 - The Ball Breaker Run at Soma Vineyards
|
August 19th at Soma Vineyards
GMs report: Out in the pristine countryside at Soma Vineyards, a record forever number of hashers 200 of them, with 65 hard core runners for a 2 in 1 event. The ball breaker run that saw 65 runners, some signing up as late as 18th August and 135+ hashers for the later event starting at10:30 a.m. 6 a.m. and GM and his volunteer team of lucky 13 drove into Soma at 6 a.m. - leaving their homes at 4 a.m! to get ready and welcome the runners for the first run - organising the water stops and the rego process - while having piping hot idlies - omellets and - bread jam - complements of BH3 - that were liked so much that we sent the car to get another lot for the incoming Vineyard run hashers. With a little bit of mismanagement, the Ball Breaker was all set to start at 7:30, and it did - with the water van going to its lakeside stop and runners taking off for a loop that took them around the lake and then the hills. They were given timing chips ( a piece of potato chips), explained checkbacks and fishhook terminology. And slowly they came back all of them around 10:30 a.m. Thereafter, with hashers coming in - the Vineyard run started at 11 a.m. with a White wine stop at the Pool, and then off into the hills for an amazing trail that everyone liked and back to the Vineyard where chilled beer and lunch awaitd all. The circle had its interesting moments - hares put on the ice - Mother Hasher Mama Mia, Kazakh returnee Crude Slick Pradeep who came in straight from the airport and Kum Kum the other phorenar along with Dottie. Representative virgins Neha, Fatima, Dimple, Kuzem, Aruna, Amru and more.. were iced. Jahansi Ranis birthday was celebrated in hash style with she sitting on Rajkumar and later a 10 kg, cake being cut.Followed by Litherbum Jaya and then finally the host Raju for the amazing experience that we got. RA BFG was iced too as a returner.. On On to Run 682! Gora, our Hash Scribes version This ball breaking run is a nice occasion to view runners not from Somalia, Ethiopia or Kenya but right in Namma Bengaluru. Its good they come here as we are quite generous with organ transplants even though they are metallic.Talk of Health Tourism in the Hash. These metal nuts that were given away to felicitate the Runners serve a dual purpose. One they help in the replacements of what was lost and shriveled away due to non-use. Second they help in notifying any tinkle in the Jungle happening especially when no one is around. Even the nights are quite entertaining for the neighbours if they are active.(Ding ding ding….) Sounds familiar dosent it? It was a pleasure to know Dorothee who is a Hasher from France. I heard she has never hared there. It was also heard she got VD over here. This is what happens when you Hash in Foreign Countries. Next time wear better protection. I mean Attire. Shee.. what dirty mind you Hashers have… Her Hash name is VDD. This Run was well organized even to the minutest detail like beds. The Trail led through Field Beds, stream bed, rocky bed and in case you fell, an Ambulance to take you to a Hospital Bed. Such is the level of organization. There was a good injection of Spirit into the Run, Thanks to the wine contribution at the water-stop setting a high standard for running/walking on the trail. Of course the double dose of getting the hashers higher occurred when little a hillock was included in the trail. Thank you Crushed Nuts for the Fish-hook on the trail especially at the bottom of the hill. It reminded us of the other uses of our legs. This ball breaking run is the reason why we can avoid going to xxx movies. All words that describe the scenery and experience …. mounds, Valleys, Getting wet, beds, blood, hard ….anything missing? Even Cake was there to make it interesting. Thank you , thank you Jhansi Rani…It was a great finish. We are going to come again and again…for such Runs. Thank you, Dinesh for sponsoring the Change in underwear even though it was blue. Atleast it was not Pink. No one got to see the stains that occurred on it after our Run.
